IN GENERAL. |
Tips
& Tactics - Sept 10. |
|
Last September 2 flies in particular stood out for me personally and these were a Pink Centre Bead Bloodworm and a White Fritz Redhead and both of these patterns have produced great results again this year and with fish often starting to chase Fry in September this sees it often a good month for a White Lure such as this Fritz Redhead.
With September also being a month where Hoppers and Daddies do well at every fishery throughout the country another pattern I am expecting to do well with in September is the newly added to site Bibio Hopper Popper which I caught fish with on both of my fishing trips in August. I found from one of the competitions this summer about these Hopper Poppers doing well in the South of the country and although using foam to float flies is nothing new I can see why these flies with the foam added in this way are doing well. They certainly float no problem and make it easy for even a novice angler to fish.
As heather flies make Bibios good in my area the Bibio Hopper Popper will be the one I try first this September.
NJAF recommended flies for September – Pink Centre Bead Bloodworm, White Fritz Redhead, Hoppers, Hopper Popper and Bibio Hopper Popper for my areas.

KNITSLEY MILL FISHERY. |
Tips
& Tactics - Sept 10. |
|
Recommended All Year Patterns - Damsel Nymph & Black Buzzer.
The best fishing recently has been from the middle lake where weed removal has taken place and both the middle and top lake are to be stocked heavily in the first week of September when weed removal is complete so these 2 lakes are the ones to fish.
Best patterns to use are Pheasant tails, Diawl Bachs, Damsel Nymphs, Dawsons Olive and Buzzers.

MOFFAT FISHERY. |
Tips
& Tactics - Sept 10. |
|
Recommended All Year Pattern - Black Buzzer.
Daddies & Hoppers are the patterns to use here for the top of the water now. Also fish here will start feeding on fry especially as the month goes on and strangely enough here it is often in the evening when the Fry patterns will work.

CAISTRON LAKE. |
Tips
& Tactics - Sept 10. |
|
Recommended All Year Patterns - Flexi-floss Bloodworm Pink & Damsel Flashbacks.
Towards the end of August I fished here and found that the strip in front of the lodge had a lot of fish in it. I know it had been stocked there recently just before a ladies event and as a lot of fish are still there I would certainly recommend fishing there even if it was just for a short go before taking a boat out.
I did really well in the big lake here last year with a Pink Centre Bead Bloodworm in September and although on my recent 2 visits here this year it has been a small yellow Lure that has worked.
Pink Bloodworms are always worth a go here.
Other patterns to try now are Hoppers, Daddies and also towards the end of the month fish here will start feeding on sticklebacks which have an orange throat and this can see a Mini Orange Fritz or a Lure with Orange in do well.

CLERKLANDS. |
Tips
& Tactics - Sept 10. |
|
Recommended All Year Pattern :- Yellow Dancer & Damsel Flashbacks.
With new people running Clerklands this year stocking seems to be better at the moment and fishing improved. Flies I have done well with here in September in previous years have been a Bibio Hopper and a Gold Head Hares Ear and it is worth watching out for a small winged black fly on the water this month when a Blae & Black will work. The sweep for the tagged fish is still running here in September.
