March Angling News:-
1:- The tying of the last of my top 5 flies for 2009 is sent to subscribers this month- Feb2010.
2:- Cut Throat cat Material. The materials for tying this top new pattern which appeared on site towards the end of 2009 will be available on Fly Tying Materials at the start of February.
3:- Caistron Lake - 2010 season starts on Saturday 27th Feb. Prices are the same as 2009 and a big stocking of fish will go in just before opening day to supplement the over wintered fish.
4:- Caistron Lake - A stocking of fish did go in Caistron on the 26th Feb ready for opening on the 27th Feb, the ice had to be broken to do this but unfortunately the lake remained frozen for another week.
But I can confirm the fish are in ready for when fishing takes place in the second week of March.
5:- New On Site - Crystal Hackle for tying the New Cut Throat Cat Patterns plus Sink Tip Lines, Zonker Strips, Rainbow Flashabou plus the New Crystal Cat Fly.
6:- Crystal Cats Whiskers – New NJAF fly catching well in February.
After the success of the Cut Throat cats which were added last year I tied these Crystal Cats using some of the same material and have had some fantastic feedback of how good they are doing.
They are now on My Flies – I dont think you will get this fly anywhere else at the moment.
7:- Tips and Tactics have now started for 2010 season and are on site.
8:- Clerklands Fishery is now closed. I am sorry to say Wullie is no longer running Clerklands and the fishery is closed. I have heard it may be put out to syndicate so I expect to remove this from my featured fisheries soon.
9:- Kielder, Fontburn and Coldingham Loch all re open for 2020 season on Saturday 13th March. All other featured fisheries are already open except for conundrum.
10:- Conundrum is still closed at present but may re-open in May as a fly and bait lake.
11:- Langley Dam sees the trout masters take place on Sunday 28th March but the fishery is still open for both boat and bank anglers not entering this competition.
Langley Dam – The fishery is fully booked for a club competition on Sunday 18th April.
FEATURED FLY OF THE MONTH - FLEXI-FLOSS PINK CENTRE BEAD BLOODWORM.
New Featured Fly – Top fly which caught the most fish for me in 2009 is a Flexi-floss Pink Centre Bead Bloodworm.
This can be found on My Flies.
Here is the pattern. The next best patterns will be e-mailed to subscribers over the winter months.
Hook – size 10.
Body – Fluorescent Pink Silk with 5 or 6 coats of superglue and 3mm Gold
Bead in centre of body.
Tail – 2 strands of Pink Flexi Floss at both bend and eye of hook.
As well as catching me the most fish this year it also accounted for a few bigger fish and although it did not catch at all fisheries where it does work it is absolutely lethal particularly on a floating line.
It is fantastic at Caistron and Whinney Loch.
